GetBusy Description

The Initiative

Getbusy.gr is a web portal containing comprehensive information and educational material that can be used by young people in Greece in order to empower their skills in accordance with today’s modern and very challenging economic environment.

Getbusy.gr is addressed to all young people who wish to enrich their knowledge, their Curriculum Vitae as well as their position in the labor market. It is also addressed to those who wish to be entrepreneurs and start their own business.

Getbusy.gr, has educational and informational material, divided into four categories (you can see the categories on the left of the home page as the boxes with the light green colour). These categories are:

  • ICT Skills which based on the official courseware of ECDL Core + certification. Besides the basic skills of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and databases there is also material for image editing, web editing, IT security and ICT project planning.
  • The second category is Personal & Professional Development (for example CV and cover letter, job search, job interviews’ preparation, networking and self branding, working abroad, etc),
  • The third category is Entrepreneurship and includes topics such as Business model innovation, business plan authorship, startup lifecycle, fund raising and various case studies.
  • The final category is New Technologies and Sustainability (basic concepts of green entrepreneurship, Carbon Emissions, Green ICT, ECO labels for ICT).

The informational and educational material of Gebusy.gr largely meets the priorities set by the EU on the digital skills. Namely, the user and professional skills as listed in the ICT skills section and the entrepreneurship and management skills as listed in the relevant entrepreneurship category.

The Online Quiz

The main attraction of the Getbusy.gr portal is the online quiz.

Based on the educational content discussed previously, getbusy.gr offers an online quiz, through which, candidates have the opportunity to claim great prizes which are currently offered by Greek academic institutions such as the American College of Greece (Deree College), the ALBA Graduate Business School as well as companies like Peoplecert Group.

These prizes include two scholarships for Bachelor’s degrees, two scholarships for Master’s degrees, an educational trip to the European BizSpark Summit finals, 200 ECDL Core + certifications, career counseling seminars, educational seminars and more to come. All these prizes will be allocated based on the quiz score ranking.

The 30 top-scores will compete individually and as groups on case studies during the final event on April 2013 which will be organized by the scientific committee of getbusy.gr

The quiz is available on the web portal www.getbusy.gr and on the facebook page of getbusy.gr as a facebook app.

The quiz questions are derived from the educational and informational material available at the portal. Each candidate has to go through three levels of difficulty, of 20 questions each and achieve a good ratio of correct answers and time spent on each question in order to get a good score and be one of the top-30 scorers.

For a correct answer the user gets an encouraging and catchy message to move forward to the next question. In the case of a wrong answer, besides the catchy message, the user also gets a web link to the educational material relevant to the question.

The user can then add this material to the studying list which is unique for every user. Finally every user can see his/her ranking and overall score on the MyGetBusy Dashboard.

The quiz is open to youth aged between 17 and 28 and it will be online until March 26th 2013.
